NSW AIDS COUNCIL - LESBIAN SEXUAL HEALTH

The AIDS Council of NSW's new sexual health booklet for lesbians has been well received by both lesbians and health care workers. The Informer is a 68 page guide which covers a whole range of contemporary health issue affecting lesbians such as woman to woman transmission of STD's, pregnancy, menopause, pap tests, body piercing and sex with men.

Also included is a comprehensive NSW referral list and glossary.

The Informer is an updated version of an early ACON publication called Lesbian Sex. "It's a response to the many concerns that lesbians have about woman to woman HIV/AIDS transmission," said the book's editor, sarah bergin. "Such a strong response demonstrates that there is a thirst for information in this area."

Also addressing some of the gaps in lesbian health services is a Lesbian Health network, which meets regulalrly at ACON.

The group consists of individual health practitioners and various agency representatives. For copies of The Informer contact ACON's information project on (02) 9206 2024. enquiries about the Lesbian Health Network can be made to the Women's Campaign Planner on (02) 9206 2054.
